SanDisk Data Recovery – SSDs, USB Drives and Memory Cards

SanDisk became an independent company again in February 2025 when it separated from Western Digital, taking the flash products – including WD_BLACK and WD Blue SSDs – with it. Whatever the logo on your device, if it is a SanDisk or WD-branded flash product we can recover it.

SanDisk portable SSDs, USB sticks and memory cards are used by photographers, filmmakers and students everywhere, and they are easily lost to accidental formatting, physical damage or sudden failure.

Common SanDisk Failures

  • Extreme Portable SSD suddenly disconnecting or not mounting – a widely reported issue with some 2022–2023 units
  • USB sticks bent or snapped, or showing “insert disk into drive”
  • Memory cards showing as RAW, 0 bytes, or asking to be formatted
  • Photos and video lost after formatting a card in the camera
  • Monolithic microSD cards and USB sticks that need direct NAND access

Monolithic Flash Recovery

Many modern USB drives and memory cards are “monolithic” – the controller and memory are sealed in one package. When they fail, we expose the internal test points under a microscope and read the memory directly, then rebuild the data. This is delicate work, but it often succeeds when the card is completely dead.

Frequently asked questions

I formatted my camera card by mistake. Can you get the photos back?

Very often, yes – a quick format usually leaves the photo data in place. Stop using the card immediately and do not take any more pictures on it.
