Common SanDisk Failures
- Extreme Portable SSD suddenly disconnecting or not mounting – a widely reported issue with some 2022–2023 units

Monolithic Flash Recovery
Many modern USB drives and memory cards are “monolithic” – the controller and memory are sealed in one package. When they fail, we expose the internal test points under a microscope and read the memory directly, then rebuild the data. This is delicate work, but it often succeeds when the card is completely dead.

Very often, yes – a quick format usually leaves the photo data in place. Stop using the card immediately and do not take any more pictures on it.
